Alamosa, Colorado - The No. 21 ranked Adams State University wrestling team (1-7) will compete against Chadron State College (2-5) on Friday at 6:00PM and Colorado School of Mines (7-2) on Saturday at 2:00PM. Both contests will occur on the road.
Despite a 1-7 overall record, Adams State was named the #21 ranked team in the nation last week at 0-7 just before picking up the first team win of the year at home 25-16 over New Mexico Highlands University. Some of the praise likely comes from the team having no real blowout losses and a one point loss to No. 7 CSU-Pueblo and to now No. 8 Simon Fraser. Individual success has also been key as
Darek Huff (7-4) is ranked 7
th nationally in the 125 pound weight class while
Natrelle Demison (14-6) is ranked 5
th nationally in the 149 pound weight class.
The opposition will have nobody ranked in any weight class, nor as a team. This will be one of the rare times this has occurred this season. The Grizzlies will still expect tough matchups this weekend and hope to improve its ranking.
