ALAMOSA – The ASU men's basketball team (7-7 overall, 5-3 RMAC) will continue the second portion of their season at home this Friday, January 5 and 6. In their first games of 2018, the Grizzlies will take on the Mountain Lions of University of Colorado – Colorado Springs and the Roadrunners of Metro State University. Both of these match-ups are scheduled to kick-off at 7:30 PM in Plachy Hall.
Recently In Adams State Men's Basketball:
The men of Adams State are currently on a hot streak with a two-game winning streak from last weekend. In their Friday match-up, the Grizzlies went head-to-head with the CCU Cougars. After a point-for-point night, Adams constructed a miracle layup in the final seconds that finalized the win, outscoring the Cougars 85-85. This intense style of play would continue the next night as Adams took on Chadron State College. In their final competition of the 2017 season, the Grizzlies won with a razor-thin margin of only one point. With a close finish and a last minute jumper, Adams sealed the win with a final score of 75-74.
About UCCS:
The UCCS Mountain Lions men's basketball team (4-9 overall, 1-6 RMAC) is currently ranked 14
th in the RMAC standings. Despite their current four-game losing streak, the Mountain Lions defeated the Chadron State Eagles early this season, 69-63. In their most recent conference games, UCCS fell in a close match-up versus Colorado School of Mines with a final score of 77-79. In addition, they lost another close competition to Western State the following night, 72-77.
Last Meeting:
The Grizzlies traveled to Colorado Springs once last season to take on the Mountains Lions on their home court. In a tough match-up, the Grizzlies fell with a final score of 81-94. Despite the loss,
Brandon Sly recorded an impressive showing, tallying 20 points, two assists, and four steals.
About Metro State:
The Metro State University Roadrunners (7-6 overall, 6-1 RMAC) are currently on a hot streak in their season with four straight wins. Despite their five back-to-back losses early on, the Roadrunners have bounced back from defeat and done well in conference play, only dropping one game. In their most recent match-ups, Metro has defeated CCU and Colorado Mesa with final scores of 76-56 and 81-78, respectively.
Last Meeting:
Similar to UCCS, ASU met Metro State once last season on January 7, 2017. Despite coming off a tough loss the night before, Adams battled back to defeat Metro on their home court. In their 85-81 win,
Brandon Sly recorded 20 total points, along with five assists and one steal.
