ALAMOSA - The men's and women's basketball teams will be honoring breast cancer awareness with a Think Pink night this Friday during their match-up versus Colorado State University - Pueblo. During both competitions, a fundraiser will be held and all donations will go to the Stephanie L. Miner Women's Imaging Center at the SLV Hospital.
Directly inside the gym, ASU students will be collecting donations all night long. In addition, the Grizzly Cheerleaders will make their way throughout the bleachers with donation jars for a special minute-to-win-it collection during both halftimes. ASU fans will be challenged to donate as much as possible in only 60 seconds!
The men's basketball team took on Pueblo earlier this season in a dominating fashion. While
Shane Johnson racked up 28 points and eight boards,
Brandon Sly recorded a double-double with 17 points and 11 assists. Despite the Pueblo's late points off turnovers and second-chance opportunities, ASU stole the win with a final score of 92-84.
The women's team also went head-to-head with the Thunderwolves that night, however, had a somewhat different outcome. Although
Brooke Neal tallied 12 points and three assists, Pueblo's ability to score off the bench and in the paint resulted in an 89-55 win in their favor.
Think Pink night festivities will kick-off at 5:30 at the start of the women's game and continue through the men's tip-off time of 7:30. Remember to donate and wear your best pink gear to the competition to support breast cancer awareness!
