Grizzlies Fall Late to Mavericks

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - The Adams State women's soccer team lost on Friday to Colorado Mesa University, 1-0. The Grizzlies drop to 2-12 overall and 1-9 in conference play.

A late goal by the Mavericks sealed the victory in Grand Junction on Friday night. The Grizzlies offense could not get going all night as they were held to only five shots with zero coming on goal. The Mavericks and Grizzlies both were playing fantastic defense throughout the game.

Both teams were scoreless through the first half and majority of the second half until Alexis Allard found a seam in the defense and found the back of the net to get the Mavericks on the scoreboard in the 83rd minute. The Mavericks posted 21 shots with nine coming on goal. Four Mavericks had at least two shots on goal.

Corri Zaiger played a tremendous game with eight saves on the night. Brenna Oakey, Natalie Wheelock, and Lourdes Padilla each had a shot for the game. Elli Zimmer posted two shots on the night.

The Grizzlies will look to regroup as they take on Western State University on Sunday, Oct. 21st. The game will begin at 1 p.m. in Gunnison, Colo.
