GUNNISON, Colo. - The Adams State women's soccer team came up short against Western State University on Sunday afternoon, 2-1. The loss drops the Grizzlies to 2-13 overall and 1-10 in conference play.

The Grizzlies and Mountaineers played a fast-paced offensive game combining for 20 shots on goal with 34 total shots for the game. The first half started off slow for both teams until Andrea Grillo put the Mountaineers on the scoreboard after an assist by Casey Ober in the 41st minute.

The Grizzlies would answer with a score of their own after a Diana Cerillo shot hit off the crossbar and deflected right to Victoria Sanchez for the goal. Ingrid Alvarez put the Mountaineers on top in the 81st minute off of a score following a corner kick. The Mountaineers defense held on until the final whistle to secure the victory.
