VB | Grizzlies Fall in Straight Sets to Skyhawks

ALAMOSA, Colo. - The Adams State Volleyball team fell to Fort Lewis College in straight sets Tuesday night at Plachy Hall.

 

The Grizzlies overall record drops to 6-11 for the season. Adams State stands at 3-6 in the RMAC after tonight.

 

Set one was competitive throughout. Adams State and Fort Lewis continued to go back-and-forth scoring points with neither team taking a substantial lead. The Set was tied at 16 when the Skyhawks started to separate themselves from the Grizzlies. The Skyhawks went on to beat the Grizzlies, 25-22.

 

The Skyhawks took the early lead in set two. Adams State slowly but surely started to fall behind as the set continued. The Grizzlies trailed 17-10 midway through the set. Adams State attempted to make a comeback but would fall short, 25-19.

 

Adams State got the early 2-0 lead in the third set but failed to maintain it. Adams State would lose the lead shortly after and never come back. The Skyhawks saw the ending near and kept pressing the Grizzlies to respond. Adams State never responded, falling to the Skyhawks 25-14.

 

Rachael Ringler led the Grizzlies with 30 assists. Julianna Zamora led the team with nine kills. Shannon Mulkey and Atira Jells combined for 15 total kills for the night.

 

Adams State continues its season on the road against Colorado Christian and Regis this weekend.
