DENVER, Colo. – The Adams State Volleyball Team was defeated by Regis in three sets Saturday. The loss drops the Grizzlies record to 6-13 and 3-8 in the RMAC.
Both teams came out ready to compete in set one. The Grizzlies and Rangers were tied at 10 midway through the set. It was a set of mini runs from this point. The Rangers struck first, leading 15-13. The Grizzlies would come back to take the lead, 20-18. Regis would come back to take the lead and set victory, 25-21.
Set two had a similar finish to the first. The teams stayed close to one another throughout the entire set up until the very end. The Grizzlies were leading most of the set, until the Rangers took the lead, 18-17. Regis would move on to take the second set, 25-22.
The third and final set was all Regis. The Rangers had the lead for most of the set. Adams State took a brief lead over Regis, 17-16. The Rangers would come back to retain the lead and defeat the Grizzlies, 25-20.
Atira Jells led the Grizzlies in kills at 10. Rachael Ringler finished with 30 assists to lead the team.
Adams State is back home next weekend with matches against South Dakota School of Mines and Black Hills State.
