ALAMOSA, Colo. – For the fifth straight match, the Adams State Men's Soccer team was shutout in Lakewood, Colo. 2-0, in what would be the first victory on the year for Colorado Christian. The loss drops the Grizzlies record to 0-10-2.
After surrendering five goals in the previous contest against Metro,
Jacob Faircloth got the nod at goalie and would make five saves, but gave up two goals in what would be the ultimate difference in the game. Once again, the Grizzly offense would go quiet and Faircloth and the defense would try their best to carry the load.
After a scoreless first half would leave the Grizzlies optimistic going into the second, an early second half score, Blake Goodale would score his first goal of the season for the Cougars, putting in an assist Dominic Deatherage right before the 50-minute mark.
With the score staying 1-0 CCU for the majority of the second half, Adams would pull Faircloth in an effort to get the tying goal late in the game, but a busted play would result in a late empty net goal by Dohnovyn Jackson to end the game in a 2-0 victory for CCU.
The Grizzlies will be back at home next weekend with games against Regis and UCCS, still in search of their first victory on the year.
