ALAMOSA, Colo. - The Adams State Men's Basketball team takes their talents on the road this weekend. The Grizzlies open up with No. 20 Wayland Baptist Friday, Nov. 16. Adams State closes out the weekend against MSU Texas Saturday evening. Both games tip-off at 3 p.m.
The Grizzlies defeated Northern New Mexico College in an exhibition game Tuesday night. It was a tight game that ended with the Grizzlies taking the win, 82-79. Ricky Norris was the Grizzlies' leading scorer with 18 points. Justice Augmon contributed 15 points in the Grizzlies victory.
Adams State has an 0-2 record to begin the season. The Grizzlies fell to UT Permian Basin in a tight game, 101-98 in their first game of the season.. Adams State gave West Texas A&M all that they had, but fell short of the victory, 112-87.
Scouting Wayland Baptist
The Pioneers are off to a 4-0 start in their short-lived season. Wayland Baptist is coming off wins against Huston-Tillotson University and University of the Southwest. Both of the Pioneers wins came by double-digits at home.
The Pioneers are led by leading scorer, Trevonta Robertson. Robertson is averaging a team-high 20 points per game this season. J.J Culver isn't far behind, averaging 18.5 points per game with four assists.
Scouting MSU Texas
The Mustangs are off to a 1-1 start in their season. MSU Texas is coming off a split at home in their first two home games. The Mustangs defeated Rogers State 80-75 to kick off their season. However, the Mustangs would fall just short against Arkansas-Fort Smith, 64-63.
The Mustangs are led by Josh Wallace, averaging a team-high 15 points. Gilbert Thomas Jr. is leading the team on the boards with five per game in the season.

The Grizzlies will remain on the road next week as they will head to the Lone Star state to compete in the Angelo State Thanksgiving Tournament. They will take on Central Baptist College and host Angelo State on Nov. 23 and 24, respectively.
