WBB | Turnovers Derail Grizzlies against Mavericks

Box Score Grand Junction, Colo. – The Adams State University women's basketball team (5-15, 3-15 RMAC) lost to Colorado Mesa University (17-7, 11-7 RMAC) by a score of 75-54 Friday night in Grand Junction.
 
It was a display of perseverance for the Grizzlies. Despite being outscored in nearly every offensive statistical category, Adams remained consistent with Colorado Mesa throughout the first half. Adams trailed by only nine points entering half-time.
 
Oddly, the Grizzlies led in field goal percentage, making 50 percent of their baskets. Adams also outscored Colorado Mesa in fast-break points, eight to four. The Mavericks however, outscored the Grizzlies 24 to three in second chance points as well as points in the paint, 34 to 22. Colorado Mesa forced Adams into 25 turnovers, which lead to 27 points for the Mavericks.  
 
Lejla Hadzialijagic led the Grizzlies in scoring with 15 points and five rebounds. Brooke Neal added an additional 10 points while making all six of her free-throws. The Mavericks' Erin Reichle led the team with 17 points, five assists, and four steals. Ma'ata Epenisa and Jaylyn Duran added an extra 14 and 11 points.
 
Adams State will look to redeem its loss against Western State Colorado University tomorrow evening in Gunnison. Tip-off is schedule for 5 p.m.
