ALAMOSA – The Adams State University softball team (6-16, 3-5 RMAC) swept CSU-Pueblo (6-13, 5-7 RMAC) in Sunday's doubleheader on the ASU Softball Field.
Adams State earned a 4-3 victory over CSU-Pueblo in game one. The Grizzlies earned two quick runs off a
Shelby Haskins double to right center in the bottom of the first.
Kaytlynn Johnson increased the Grizzlies lead with an RBI double to left field in the second inning. A solo homerun by
Stephanie Huff in the bottom of the third put the Grizzlies up 4-2 ahead of the Thurnderwolves. CSU-Pueblo scored one run in the top of the sixth before
Kacee Schroeder closed it out for Adams in the seventh.

Brittany Phillips single to left center earned the Grizzlies its first run of the second game. The Grizzlies blew the game open scoring six runs in the second inning with bombs to center field from
Tyler Hays and
April Riggins. Haskins sealed a 10-4 victory for the Grizzlies with a homerun to right field in the bottom of the sixth.
Whitney Fields picked up her second win of the series giving up just four earned runs on eight hits.
Hays went seven-for-12 in the four-game series against Pueblo where she finished with five RBIs and three homers.
Schroeder earned her first win Sunday allowing just three earned runs in seven innings pitched. She was joined by
Whitney Fields as the duo both picked up wins and combined for 17 and 18 forced fly and ground outs with eight combined strikeouts. Adams State earned its second highest hitting total for a game this season with 14 in Sunday's game two win.
Adams State returns next weekend for a four-game series against New Mexico Highlands University on the ASU Softball Field. First game is Saturday at 12 p.m.
