COLORADO SPRINGS - The Adams State University baseball team (0-18, 0-4 RMAC) faced its first NCAA Division I opponent since a 1-13 loss to Air Force in 2016. Today's meeting with Air Force (6-10, 1-2 MWC) went much better but the Grizzlies gave up a walk-off homerun in the bottom of the ninth allowing the home team a 7-6 victory.

The Falcons got up 1-0 in the bottom of the second before a Daniel Jones triple scored all three men on base to increase the lead to four. Adams State would get on the board in the fourth with a
Sawyer Morain single and a
Dustin Kachel single allowing
Tyson Zanski and
Ryne Niemi to score respectively. AF would answer in the sixth to increase the margin to back to four. The Grizzlies then went on a four run surge capped off by a sacrifice bunt by Kachel allowing
Tony Stanich to tie the game. In the bottom of the ninth, the Falcons won the game on a walk-off homerun. Colby Brown singled through the left side and Nic Ready headed home for the win.

Adams State went hit for hit with Air Force both posting 11. In the end, it would be the lone ASU error that made the difference.
Dustin Kachel had a solid game with three hits, an RBI, and a run scored on four at-bats.
Orlando Romer was also clutch with two RBI's one hit, and one run scored on three at-bats. In total, nine Grizzlies recorded a hit on the afternoon. ASU had a surprising eight players pitch today. The longest reign of any pitcher was
Daniel Brennan at two innings. The redshirt junior allowed two hits and one run and pitched two strikeouts. Daniel Jones led the Falcons three RBI's and two hits on three at-bats.

The Grizzlies will remain in Colorado Springs for their next RMAC series at UCCS. Game one begins Friday at 3:00PM.
