DURANGO, Colo. – The Adams State University Softball team (11-19, 8-8 RMAC) split in Sunday's doubleheader against Fort Lewis College (10-24, 4-16 RMAC).

The day began with a game one loss for the Grizzlies, falling to the Skyhawks by a score of 7-2. Adams State had just five hits for the entire game to go along with two errors. The Grizzlies two runs both came in the top of the seventh inning. Despite the Skyhawks four errors, the team managed to score seven runs on just eight hits.

Tyler Hays led the Grizzlies with two hits and one RBI.
Kacee Schroeder struck-out eight batters, while giving up just one walk in six innings pitched. She finished the series with 18 strikeouts.

The Grizzlies took the early lead at the top of the first in the final game of the series with a Skyhawks' error. Fort Lewis tied the game at one in the bottom of the fourth off of an error by Adams in the inning. The Grizzlies held the Skyhawks scoreless the rest of the game in route to a 3-1 win.

April Riggins went two-for-four with two singles for the Grizzlies.
Brittany Phillips earned her first win for the season on Sunday. Phillips gave up just two hits with no earned runs in seven innings pitched. She struck out seven batters while walking just one during her time on the mound.

Adams State will be on the road once again to play Colorado School of Mines next weekend in Golden, Colorado.
