ALAMOSA, Colo. - The Adams State University volleyball team travels to Dixie State for the Crystal Inn Classic this weekend. The Grizzlies are currently 2-2 in their short-lived season.
Adams State is coming off a 2-2 season opening weekend at the Brittkare Lady Buff Classic. The Grizzlies picked up wins against Emporia State and Eastern New Mexico, both in five sets. Both Hannah Goddard and Rachael Ringler were named to the All-Tournament Team.
Adams State begins tournament play against University of Colorado-Colorado Springs at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday evening. The Mountain Lions are on a three-game losing skid since winning their first match of the season. UCCS defeated Adams State in three sets in their only meeting last season in Colorado Springs.
Adams State continues tournament action against Arkansas Fort Smith Friday at 4:30 p.m. Arkansas Fort Smith is receiving votes in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association Division II Top-25 Poll. The Lady Lions are 3-1 to begin the season, with their only loss coming from Angelo State in the finals of the Kathleen Brasfield Invitational.
Adams State begins its final day of competition with a matchup against Tarleton State University, Saturday at 9 a.m. Tarleton State is ranked at No. 18 in the Division II AVCA Top 25 Poll. The Texans went 3-1 to open the season at home last weekend.
Adams State closes out the Crystal Inn Classic with a date against Western New Mexico University at 4:30 p.m. The Mustangs grabbed their first win of the season against Barton College last weekend in Anchorage, Alaska.
