SHAWNEE, Okla. - The Adams State University men's soccer team lost their season opener Thursday afternoon. Adams State was defeated by Oklahoma Baptist University in the first of a two-game series in Oklahoma. The Bison scored three unanswered goals to eventually take the victory in double overtime, 3-2.Â

Benji Rogers would open the first half with a goal just seven minutes into the game.
Ruben Molinar punched in a goal of his own just minutes later with an assist from
Errol Coleman. The Grizzlies were now in control having a 2-0 lead over the Bison.

Following the hot start, the Bison would cool down the Grizzlies' offense the remainder of the first half. A Felipe Robertson free kick from the left wing cut the Grizzly lead in half in the 34
th minute. The game would go into halftime with Adams State leading 2-1 over Oklahoma Baptist.

At the start of the second half Bison midfielder Jesus Andrade would cash in an assist from Alejandro Castillo to tie the game at two. With the game still tied at the end of regulation, the teams would head into overtime. Bison defender, Italo Vichiatto would header in the winning goal in double overtime to take down the Grizzlies, 3-2.

Adams State will be back in action Saturday at Southern Nazarene University at 1 p.m. central time. Adams State will look to finish their weekend trip with their first victory of the season.
