WSOC | Grizzlies Shutout in Loss to Skyhawks

DURANGO, Colo. - The Adams State University Women's Soccer team matched up with Fort Lewis College on Sunday afternoon. The Grizzlies were kept off the scoreboard for the first time this season. Fort Lewis came out on top, 3-0. The loss drops the Grizzlies to a 2-5 overall record on the year and 1-2 in conference play.

The Skyhawks got on the board in the 12th minute after a corner kick led to a Renee Terrell header for the goal. The remainder of the half showed tough defense by both teams. The Grizzlies were outshot by the Skyhawks 6-2 in the first half.

Following halftime, the Skyhawks increased their lead to two when Britany Johnson added her own header for the goal off of a corner kick in the 48th minute. Katie Smith scored the Skyhawks third goal with a header later in the second half.

The Grizzlies struggled offensively throughout the game with seven shots total with none being on goal. Carly Kading and Kendall Weld led the team in shots with two apiece.

The Grizzlies will look to bounce back against Colorado Christian University on Friday, Sept. 28. The game will begin at 1 p.m. in Golden, Colorado.
