ALAMOSA, Colo. - The Adams State Volleyball team defeated CSU-Pueblo in four sets Friday night. Adams State is now 6-9 overall and 3-4 in the RMAC after its win tonight.
Set one began with the Thunderwolves taking an early lead, eight-to-four. The Grizzlies would not fold, climbing back to tie the set at 10. Both teams began trading points from this point on. Adams State would go on to take the lead and hold on for the 25-22 victory.
Set two featured an Adams State team that led from opening serve to the end of the set. The Thunderwolves stayed competitive with the Grizzlies throughout the set. However, Adams State was too much for CSU-Pueblo. The Grizzlies went on to take the set two victory, 25-17.
Set three was as competitive as it gets with both teams trading points. The score was tied at 19 when CSU-Pueblo called a timeout. The Thunderwolves came out of the timeout determined to win. The Thunderwolves went on to outscore the Grizzlies, six-to-one en route to a set three victory.
The Grizzlies took the lead 14-9 early on in the fourth set. However, the Thunderwolves weren't ready for their night to be over as they made a comeback. Adams State now trailed 24-23 after surrendering two straight points to CSU-Pueblo. A timeout by Adams State was perfectly called soon after. The Grizzlies came out scoring the final three points in the set to take the 26-24 victory over the Thunderwolves.
Atira Jells led the Grizzlies with 18 kills with Julianna Zamora contributing a respectable 10. Rachael Ringler led the team with 44 assists on the night.
