MSOC | Grizzlies Prepare for First Home Weekend Against Non-Conference Foes

ALAMOSA, Colo.- The Adams State Men's Soccer team will begin home play this weekend as they host University of Texas of the Permian Basin on Thursday, Sept. 6 and Dallas Baptist University on Saturday, Sept. 8. The Grizzlies will look to change their fortune and cash in their first victories of the season, after a tough road trip that sent them home 0-2.

Top individual performers last weekend such as Benji Rogers, Ruben Molinar, and Andree Salazar who each had goals, hope to continue their high levels of play and give the Grizzlies the offensive spark that they need. Goalie Shawn Mckeeken, who started both games at goalie, will hope for better outings this weekend, as he and his defensive unit surrendered seven goals in two games.

Second halves proved to be woeful for Adams, as they failed to deliver any kind of offense in either game after the midway point. They will look to improve on this and have stellar defensive performances, that will hopefully result in wins.

The Grizzlies host the UT Permian Basin Thursday, at 3 p.m., and Dallas Baptist Saturday at noon. Both games will be played at the ASU Soccer Field.

Scouting the Falcons
UT-Permian Basin will hope to spoil Adams' home opener, as they come in with a unit that also dropped its first two contests. Key performers for the Falcons last weekend were freshmen forward Jacob Tellez and sophomore defender Michael Nweke, who each scored the lone goal in each game. UTPB comes into Alamosa Thursday looking to secure their first win and get second-half offensive production, as they were shut out in the second half of both games.

Scouting the Patriots
Dallas Baptist looks to remain undefeated as they tied their first, and won their second game last weekend. Junior midfielder Riley Unger was on a scoring tear last weekend, scoring three goals against Southwestern Assemblies of God University in the second game of their weekend slate. The Patriots also got stellar performance from their goalie Tristen Olvera, who gave up just one goal in their first game and none in the second.
