• The Grizzlies return to mats as they get set to compete two events in the same amount of days. They will have wrestlers compete in the Western Colorado Open on Friday, Jan. 11 and will take on a pair of opponents on Saturday, Jan. 12 in the Tracy Borah Duals.
• Adams State is coming off its first set of duals for the season last weekend against Colorado School of Mines and Chadron State. They fell to Mines 21-18 in their dual opener but bounced back with a 28-12 win against CSC.
• The Western Colorado Open will be the Grizzlies first tournament since mid-December when they competed at the Midwest Classic. They have totaled 10 placewinners in five tournaments this season.
• At 1-1, Adams State will look to get above .500 this weekend as the team will battle RMAC foe San Francisco State first on Saturday and will follow that up against an in-region opponent in Simon Fraser.
• A high point for the Grizzlies in two duals this season has been their lighter weights at 125, 133, and 141 pounds. All three weight classes are undefeated in duals this season. In the heavier weights the 165 pound weight class is also undefeated.
•
Darek Huff is the only ranked grappler for the Grizzlies. He is the No. 5-ranked wrestler at 133 pounds in Division II.
• Two grapplers are undefeated at 2-0 in duals for Adams State in
Isaiah De La Cerda at 125 pounds and
Dylan Udero at 141 pounds. Both have helped Adams State get fast starts in the previous two duals.
• A bright spot in the second half of the Grizzlies dual lineup early on has been
Koery Windham who also spots a perfect record at 165 pounds. The redshirt senior is 2-0 to start dual competition.

Fueled by three six-point match wins and a fast start, the Adams State Wrestling team secured its first dual win of the season Saturday afternoon at home with a 18-point victory over the Chadron State Eagles. The Grizzlies 28-12 win moves their dual record to 1-1 overall with the same mark in RMAC competition.
The Grizzlies picked up six wins in 10 weight bouts, including winning the first three match-ups to down the Eagles (3-3, 2-2 RMAC). Two of the Grizzlies six-point wins came thanks in part to
Dylan Udero and
James Romero pinning their opponents at 141 and 285 pounds respectively.
Scouting San Francisco State
• The Gators enter this weekend with a 3-5 overall record in dual action and are 1-2 against RMAC opponents. They are winners of their last two duals.
• San Francisco State has a win over a ranked opponent and one who was receiving votes in the national poll. They defeated No. 23 Colorado Mesa 30-12 and RV Minnesota State-Moorhead 25-18.
• Andrew Herrera leads the way for the Gators with a 7-6 record overall. 197 pounder was named the RMAC Wrestler of the Week after going 5-0 last week.
• San Francisco State was receiving votes for some time in the NWCA National Poll and will look to make a case against three opponents this week who are ranked or receiving votes.
Scouting Simon Fraser
• The Clan is 2-3 in dual competition this season and will square off in one more dual before entering the Tracy Borah Duals this weekend. They will take on Colorado Mesa on the road before heading to Gunnison.
• Simon Fraser's two duals wins are against North Idaho College and Wayland baptist (Texas). Their three losses all came at the Desert Duals in Las Vegas, Nevada against Minnesota State-Mankato, Pittsburgh-Johnstown, and Wartburg College.
• The Clan are coming off a third place team finish at the Menlo College Meet back on Jan. 5. They scored 89.5 team points thanks to several strong performances.
• Nishan Randhawa (285 pounds), Logan Nelson (174 pounds), Nolan Badovinac (197 pounds) were all placewinners at the Menlo College Meet and will look to lead Simon Fraser this weekend in Gunnison.
