Grizzly Grapplers Set Sights on Thunderwolves in Thursday Home Dual

ALAMOSA, Colo. – The Adams State University Men's Wrestling team prepares for what will be their third and final home dual of the 2018-2019 season, as they host seventh-ranked CSU-Pueblo Thursday night at Plachy Hall.

The Thuderwolves come into Thursday night's bout having taken down two straight nationally ranked opponents Newman (23) and Fort Hays State (12) in back to back duals, as they went 2-1 at the UNK Duals this past weekend in Kearney, Nebraska. They enter Thursday with plenty of momentum, coming off big victories against nationally prominent teams.

The Grizzlies enter their home dual as heavy underdogs, but are confident that they can make a push to climb back into the Top 25 before the end of the season. Last weekend at Highlands, with the exception of the 149 and 197 divisions, every Adams State grappler took home a victory, blowing out the Cowboys with an overall team score of 35-7. Their only RMAC defeat came against Colorado School of Mines back on January 4th, and they look to upset the highly ranked Thunderwolves Thursday night to stay in contention for the conference title.

Jonathan Andreatta has come on strong for the Grizzlies in recent weeks, earning RMAC Wrestler of the Week Honors last week for his dominant performance in Gunnison, Colorado at the Tracy Borah Duals. He followed that up with a 6-0 shutout decision against Dom Rivera of New Mexico-Highlands last weekend. Andreatta who competes out of the 125-pound division, will be up against Josaiah Seaton this Thursday, looking to keep his dominant stretch going.

Others with high hopes coming into this season such as Darek Huff, Isaac Lopez, Koery Windham and Dylan Udero have found consistency as of late, propelling the team to victory in all but one RMAC dual. A win against number 7 ranked CSU-Pueblo this Thursday night would be the fifth straight victory for the Grizzlies, and would put them all alone in second place in the RMAC behind Colorado School of Mines. A loss could drop them to fourth.

The dual Thursday kicks off at 6 p.m. from Plachy Hall Gymnasium.
