Grizzlies Head to Grand Junction Is Search of Another Crucial Conference Victory

ALAMOSA, Colo. – When the Adams State Men's Wrestling team hit the mat last Thursday night locked and loaded for their conference showdown with seventh-ranked CSU-Pueblo, they came in with supreme confidence knowing what was at stake with a win.

The Grizzlies entered the week in third place in the conference right behind Colorado Mines and CSU-Pueblo before Thursday night's bout, but would go home that evening sitting all alone in second, with the RMAC title in their sights.

The Grizzlies enter this week's matchup against conference foe Colorado Mesa with the same goal in mind. They must keep winning down the stretch of conference meets the next couple of weeks in order to stay ahead of CSU-Pueblo, and keep pace with Colorado Mines for the title. This will require the same solid performances from those who have been consistent as of late, and will require those have not to rise to the challenge.

Last Thursday marked the fifth team victory in a row for the Grizzlies, and was arguably the most important thus far. With the line up the same as last week, grapplers who came away with huge victories such as Jonathan Andreatta, Noah Hermosillo, Koery Wyndham, and James Romero will look to bring their momentum from last Thursday into this Thursday, and come away with wins once again.

Those who had disappointing performances but are fully capable of avenging their losses this week such as Darek Huff at 133 pounds and Khalil Gipson at 197 pounds will look to return to form Thursday night against Colorado Mesa.

The Grizzlies will look to make it six in a row tomorrow night in Grand Junction against a Mavericks team that currently sits in fifth place in the RMAC with a 7-6 record. A win would further strengthen the case for the Grizzlies to jump back into the Top 25 nationally, and put them in great position for a late run at the title. The meet kicks off at 7 PM Thursday from Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction.
