Grizzlies On the Road Again for Weekend Slate in Montana

ALAMOSA, Colo. – The Adams State Grizzlies Men's Basketball team prepares for their third road trip of the season this weekend, as they look to continue their hot streak against Montana State-Billings in what will be two games in Billings, MT over the weekend. Both games will take place at MSU-Billings with the first happening on Friday, November 29th at 7 p.m. and the second on Saturday, November 30th also at 7 p.m.

The Grizzlies are coming off of three straight victories against NAIA opponents, one of which has been marked as an exhibition and will not count toward their record. Nonetheless, they have been victorious in three straight contests, all which have been close victories that the Grizzlies have come out on top in. Their most recent was their home opener last Saturday against Northern New Mexico College, where the Grizzlies won a thriller, 75-74 at Plachy Hall. They now prepare to face off against fellow a fellow .500 team in Montana State-Billings for two games this weekend, in what the Grizzlies hope will be a successful trip up north.

It would seem as though through four games the Grizzlies have found their core nucleus of players, particularly on the offensive end. Junior Kaelin Crane hopes to continue his steady stream of play and lead the Grizzlies scoring attack as their points per game leader, averaging 18.3 per contest. When the Grizzlies needed him most last weekend against Embry-Riddle, Crane dropped a season high 32 points toward the Grizzlies 79-73 first victory of the season.

Senior Rickey Norris has essentially been the heart and soul of the Grizzlies on the defensive end of the floor, as his toughness and awareness have been monumental in winning close games. Norris is one of the RMAC leaders in rebounds as well, and does all of the dirty work on the glass and in the paint. For a team that has lacked a true big man so far this season, Norris has stepped up to the challenge often undersized against opposing players, and answered the bell when his team needs him most.

Coach Russ Caton's squad fresh off of Thanksgiving will prepare to travel to Billings, MT for their weekend double header date with the MSU-Billings Yellow Jackets on Friday and Saturday. Both games begin at 7 p.m. from Alterowitz Gymnasium and will have a live stream and live stats provided by the opposing school's website at MSUBSports.com.
