Grizzlies Head Up to South Dakota for RMAC Weekend Showdowns

ALAMOSA, Colo. – The Adams State University Men's Basketball team sets their sights on South Dakota, as they prepare for yet another long road trip to face off against Black hills State Friday night, and South Dakota Mines on Saturday night. The now, 3-5 Grizzlies are coming off of their biggest win of the season against New Mexico Highlands last Saturday, and enter Friday night with a conference record of 1-1.

The Yellow Jackets of Black Hills State come into Friday with an identical 3-5 record but have suffered two-straight losses to RMAC opponents. The Hardrockers of South Dakota Mine come in at 3-6, also having lost two in a row to conference foes. The Grizzlies hope to force both of these streaks to three on Friday and Saturday, and start to rack up conference victories. They will rely on their scoring trio of Kaelin Crane, Juwan Green and Rylan O'brien to light up the scoresheet once again, as they did on Saturday against Highlands. If they continue to play efficiently at a high pace, this formula ought to lead to more wins down the road.

While Crane, Green and O'brien had themselves nice nights last Saturday to help the Grizzlies' victory cause, they also received quality minutes off the bench from players in specialized roles. Szymon Walczak has been a quiet leader this year on both ends up the court, and while his name may not always pop out in the box score, his value and efficiency for the Grizzlies has been unmeasured this year. Rickey Norris has been in a similar role, as his usage goes dependent on the game, but when his number is called, he always rises to the challenge.

The Grizzlies prepare to square off against Black Hills State and South Dakota Mines this weekend, in what will be their third and fourth RMAC games of the year. Both are winnable game for the Grizzlies, and they hope to come back to Colorado with two more victories under their belts. Tip off for Friday night against Black Hills State is set for 7:30 PM from Spearfish, S.D., and Saturday's game against South Dakota Mines is slated to begin at 6 PM. Live stream and live stats will be available through the athletics website.
