PUEBLO, Colo. – The Adams State Softball team split day two of its pod series with a win over Chadron State on Sunday afternoon. The 1-1 day puts the Grizzlies record at 6-22 overall and 6-10 in the RMAC.
The Grizzlies secured a 5-4 win against Chadron State College came in nine innings in game one. The Grizzlies then fell to Colorado School of Mines 7-2 in game two.
Game one was a back-and-forth affair between the two squads as it took nine innings to determine a winner. The Eagles (6-19, 3-12 RMAC) won the hitting battle 10-6, but the Grizzlies had no errors to the Eagles two.
Back-to-back singles in the bottom of the second followed by a sacrifice bunt got the Eagles in scoring position, while a walk loaded the bases. Bailey Marvel plated the first run with a RBI single through the left side.
The game remained at 1-0 for the next three innings before a three-run top of the sixth inning gave the Grizzlies a 3-1 lead late in the game.
Baylie Fryar plated home the first run with a RBI double to score

Shelby Haskins then got Fryar to third with base hit up the middle.
Brittany Phillips added the final run with a RBI groundout to the shortstop to put the Grizzlies in front by two runs.
Jade Garbiso worked a 1-2-3 bottom of the sixth inning. The Eagles responded though with a 1-2-3 inning as well to start the seventh.
Chadron State tied the game in the bottom the seventh of the game. Alyssa Geist led off with a double to left field. Ellie Owens tied the game with a two-run homer to left center. The home run tied the game at 2-2 and force extra innings.

Brooke Trujillo. Chadron State answered with a RBI single in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game and force a ninth inning.
The Grizzlies scored the game's final run with the help of an Eagles error.
Rebecca Wood scored the Grizzlies final run after
Angel Micciulli got on an error from the pitcher. The Grizzlies then closed out the game with a 1-2-3 inning.
Fryar led the Grizzlies going 2-4 with a RBI and a run scored. Jimenez finished 1-4 with a RBI. Micciulli also went 1-4 and had a RBI. Garbiso pitched the entire game to get the win and improve to 2-12. She fanned four batters for the game.
Owens led the Eagles offense going 2-3 with two runs scored and two RBI. Marvel and Geist each went 2-5, while Geist scored a run and Marvel tallied two RBI. Dallas Magnusson suffered to loss to move to 1-4. She pitched 3.2 innings and struck out five batters.
Game two fell in the Orediggers (11-10, 10-3 RMAC) favor early on as they scored five runs in the first three innings of the game and held the Grizzlies scoreless in that span. The quick start ultimately made the difference as the Grizzlies fell 7-2.
Mines started its scoring run in the bottom of the first with three runs right out the gate. They opening the frame up with a double, single, and triple to get up 2-0. The lead went to three runs after RBI groundout scored the run before the Grizzlies ended the inning.
The Orediggers started the second with a 1-2-3 inning to get to the bottom half of the inning quickly and score another run. A pair of singles to start the frame got runners on and a stolen base out the Orediggers in scoring position. The run was then scored on a RBI groundout to make it a 4-0 game.
A three up, three down inning to start the third kept the defensive momentum in Mines favor. The fifth run for Mines came after a runner was walked. A double to center field plated home the runner and Mines was in control with a 5-0 advantage.

Shelby Haskins who got on base thanks to an Orediggers error. The Orediggers tried to get the run back in the bottom of the inning with two hits to get runners on base but both were left stranded.
Adams State was unable to find a rhythm in the fifth inning and managed just one hit. Mines then got its run back in the bottom of the inning. Three straight singles loaded the bases for Mines before a sacrifice fly scored the team's sixth run to make it a 6-1 game.
The final Grizzlies run came in the top of the sixth. Haskins provided the lone run as she delivered a solo home run to right field to make it a 6-2 game. The Orediggers final run came in the bottom of the sixth. The Grizzlies got back-to-back outs to start before a walk and two singles scored the Orediggers final run for a final of 7-2.
Haskins led the Grizzlies efforts with a 1-3 hitting performance. She also scored two runs and had a RBI. Phillips and
Zoe Munn also went 1-3, while Phillips tallied a RBI.
Taylor Sandoval pitched the game and moved to 2-4 on the year.
Four from Mines all had two hits for the game. Boston Ludlow and Megan Dickson each went 2-4. Ludlow had a RBI and scored a run, while Dickson had a RBI. Stefanie Brunello was 2-3 with a run scored, while Hana Mawlawi was a perfect 2-2. Sydney Marchando earned the win to move to 7-3 after pitching a complete game. She struck out nine batters in the win.
The Grizzlies will remain on the road next weekend as they will head to Grand Junction for a four-game series at Colorado Mesa. The series against the Maverick will be on March 23 and 24.
