Box Score 2 KEARNEY, Neb. - The Adams State Women's Volleyball team fall in their season opening double header at the Loper Invite in Kearney, Neb.
The #11 ranked Lopers came out with the win in three straight sets in the Grizzlies first match. Adams State put up a good fight in their second game, falling to Oklahoma Baptist 3-1.
In game one, the Lopers came out strong with an early 7-1 run. Nebraska Kearney ran away with the first set 25-9. The Grizzlies closed the game in the second set, cutting the Loper victory margin 25-15. The Lopers finished the third and final set 25-13, giving the Grizzlies their first loss of the season.
Hannah Goddard was the star for Adams State in game one with 9 kills, one ace and 21 digs. Also leading the Grizzlies was
Bailey Schlosser with 9 assists and 8 digs.
Adams State played a much closer game in the afternoon against Oklahoma Baptist. The Grizzlies went back and forth with the Bison for the entirety of the first set, with Oklahoma Baptist coming out 26-24. The Bison came out strong in the second set, going on a run, winning 25-16.
The Grizzlies had a strong 7-3 run and a winning kill by Alexandrea MacAskill to come out victorious 25-21. Oklahoma Baptist had a shut down fourth set, finishing off the match 25-15.
MacAskill was a strong member for Adams State, leading the team with 9 kills and 9 digs. Schlosser also led the Grizzlies with 16 assists.
Tomorrow, Adams State will step on the court again in neutral territory for another double header in Kearney, Neb. The Grizzlies will play at 9:00 a.m. CST against Findlay University and at 1:00 p.m. CST facing Augustana.
