San Francisco, CA – The Adams State wrestling squad looks to open the new year on the West Coast, competing at San Francisco State against Simon Fraser University, San Francisco State, and Minnesota State. Ten grapplers look to sport Adams State green this weekend before heading into RMAC competition next weekend.
Keeping Up with the Grizzlies
This weekend marks the first time the Grizzlies head into duals this season, opening against Minnesota State at 10 a.m. Friday. Following, at noon Adams State will face Simon Fraser University, then RMAC foes San Fransisco State at 2 p.m. Adams State comes into the duals ranked No. 11 in Division II and look for their first sets of wins this weekend.
Grizzlies last saw action mid December at the 41
st annual Midwest Classic hosted by the University of Indianapolis. Adams State would be represented well in the lighter weight classes, having two first place finishes within the 133 and 141 weight classes.
Noah Hermosillo and
Jonathan Andreatta would earn their spots at the top of the podium after being unbeaten throughout the weekend.
Josiah Rider would come close to earning another first place finish within the 149-pound weight class but would finish at 3
rd after being upset in the semi-final against Tiffin University's Christopher Donathan.
All three grapplers look to hit the mats this weekend to continue the 2019-20 season.
