Grapplers Prepare for Head to Head Bout Against Moutanineers in Alamosa

ALAMOSA, Colo. – The Adams State Wrestling Squad heads into action this Thursday, looking to host their first home dual of the 2019-20 season. Grizzlies are set to host the Western State Colorado Mountaineers in Plachy Hall, Thursday, January 16th kicking off at 6:00 PM. We encourage fans planning to attend tomorrow's dual to bring spare pairs of socks to donate to our sock drive. Parking will be available in the Bubble Parking Lot and in the Main Lot on Campus.

Keeping up With the Grizzlies
Adams State grapplers last saw action in the San Francisco State duals last weekend, going head to head with Minnesota State – Mankato, Simon Fraser University, and San Francisco State and ending at 2-1 on the day. Minnesota State – Mankato came first and earned their way to a single-point win over the Grizzlies.

Grizzly grapplers were faced with foes from North of the border, going head to head with Simon Fraser University and earning a blowout victory to bounce back from the early morning loss. Adams State would only allow nine points on their 36 to earn their first victory on the season.

Conference foes, San Francisco State would be saved for last, as the Grizzlies would put up a quick lead within the lighter weight-classes and finally put it away in the 174-pound bout between Isaac Lopez and Maleselino Salt of SF State. Grizzlies would earn their second dual victory of the season over SF State, putting up 25 points to the Gators' 20.

Isaiah De La Cerda (125 lbs), Jonathan Andretta (133 lbs), Noah Hermosillo (141 lbs), and Gavin Davy (165 lbs) would show out and earn three straight wins at the duals.
Adams State comes in ranked 11th in the NWCA Coaches Poll. Jonathan Andreatta comes in ranked 4th within the 133-pound weight class, Noah Hermosillo comes in with a ranked third in the 141-pound weight class, and Josiah Rider is ranked 6th at 149 pounds. Grizzlies are 2-1 on the season and look to earn their first conference win of the season.
