Grizzlies Throttle Cougars at Home to Snap Four-Game Skid

Box Score ALAMOSA, Colo. – The Adams State Grizzlies Men's Basketball team ended their four-game losing streak Friday night in emphatic fashion, blowing out the Colorado Christian Cougars 101-82. The win gives the Grizzlies an RMAC record of 4-8, with all four wins coming on their home floor.

The offensive explosion was led by seniors Szymon Walczak who had 24 on the night, and Rickey Norris who also broke the 20-point threshold with 21. The two seniors have stepped up on both ends of the floor as of late, and have taken over as the two leaders on the team. Walczak did his damage going 8 of 13 from the field and also grabbed 7 boards (3 offensive). Norris as he did a week ago, defended relentlessly and finished the night with 3 steals. On the offensive end, he was an efficient 9-13 from the field, and was perfect from the free throw line (2-2).

The Grizzlies shot the ball quite well Friday night, and ended their evening shooting 57.8% from the field as a team. Every player suited up scored, and it appeared that their rotation was a well-oiled machine all night long. Their sharpshooters, Rylan O'brien and Logan Longo both came off the bench, but provided an instant spark on the offensive end from deep, as O'brien totaled 16 points on 5 of 9 shooting with Longo nailing three from deep to finish with 9. O'brien played what was one of his best games on the defensive end in the season, finishing his night with two steals and 3 defensive rebounds (4 total.)

The Grizzlies biggest challenge coming into the night was how they planned to contain 6 foot 11 Spencer Hoffman, being that their tallest body is 6 foot 5 Nana Appiah. Though Hoffman led all scorers with 30 points on the evening, the Grizzlies' defensive switches harassed Hoffman enough that he was forced to kick out and give up the basketball, where little damage was done elsewhere. The Grizzlies were the faster and more composed team on the night, and it paid off for them in the win column, as they took home the victory, 101-82.

The win proved to be one of the Grizzlies' most complete games of the season, and when they play at the level that was put on display Friday night, they are a tough out for any team in the RMAC. Though Colorado Christian entered the contest at a measly 1-16 overall, the Grizzlies will undoubtedly take the blowout win in a good performance, regardless of the record. They hope to have found a rhythm that will carry over into tomorrow night's matchup against Regis. Tip-off is set for 7:30 PM from Plachy Hall with live stream and stats provided by the athletics website.
