ALAMOSA, Colo. -  The Adams State Women's basketball team falls to the Colorado Christian Cougars 51-77. The Grizzlies now fall to 2-10 in RMAC, and 2-3 at home.
 
Adams State started off strong, winning the tip and getting the first points on the board. From the tip, the Grizzlies found 
Paiton Demps in the paint. The Grizzlies built on their momentum with a steal from 
Marshell Hollins to make the fast break layup to put the Grizzlies up 4-0. The Cougars quickly picked up on the Grizzlies pace, making a quick three then answering Demp's layup. The Grizzlies regained their lead from a good three from 
Laura Gutierrez. The Cougars the game up at 9 with just over five minutes remaining in the quarter. The Cougars picked up the pace and gained the lead. Colorado Christian extended the deficit to 10 points with 2:42 left in the quarter. Adams State finished the first quarter trailing 24-16.
 
The Cougars continued to push the pace, extending their largest lead in the second quarter to 15. The Grizzlies continued to battle with 
Danielle Jimenez hitting a good jumper halfway through the quarter. 
Ally McKenzie added to the Grizzlies' total with a solid lay up with an assist from Jimenez. Adding Gutierrez's 2 points from the free throw line, the Grizzlies ended the first half trailing 22-37.
 
 Adams State opened the second half scoring the first points on the half with a layup from McKenzie. The Grizzlies outscored the Cougars in the third quarter 19-13. The Grizzlies closed the gap to 8 points with McKenzie, 
Kassie Schell, 
Makaela Ewing, and 
Maddie Dorris. The quarter concluded with Cougars leading 50-41.
 
Continuing their fight, the Grizzlies added 10 more points in the fourth. Jimenez and Schell each went 2-2 from the line in the quarter. Demps and 
Zakiya Beckles each added a layup to the Grizzlies total. Adams State finished the game falling to the Cougars 77-51.
 
Leading the Grizzlies on the scoreboard were Jimenez and Demps, each scoring 8 points. Jimenez went 4-4 from the line, with Schell going 6-6. Leading the Grizzlies on the boards were Schell, grabbing 7 rebounds and McKenzie with 5. Demps and Beckles each with 4.
 
The Grizzlies will be out on the floor tomorrow night at 5:30 p.m. to take on the Regis Rangers.
