Pueblo, CO – The Adams State University wrestling team earned another victory on the season Thursday, vising the Colorado State University – Pueblo Thunderwolves for a Southern Colorado Showdown. Grizzly grapplers would rack up 26 total team points to the Pack's 19, increasing their overall record to 4-2 including a 2-1 record within the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
The night would kick off with the 174-pound bout between Adams State's
Isaac Lopez and Brendon Kelly. Lopez would put up the first three points for the Grizzlies, edging out Kelly 5-3 for a decision victory.
Following would be the 184 bout that brought up six more points for the Grizzlies as
William Tyler would earn a victory by pinfall after 6:55.
Lightweight bouts would bring 13 more team points for Adams State as
Isaiah De La Cerda would earn a victory by forfeit in the 125-pound matchup. In the 133-pound bout,
Jonathan Andreatta would come out on top in a nail-biting 6-5 victory by decision.
Noah Hermosillo would bounce back from his previous week's performance by earning a victory by major decision, keeping CSU-Pueblo's Dino Cancellieri scoreless and putting up nine.
Ryan Rochford would conclude the dual with an explosive performance in the 165-pound bout that would end with a victory by major decision. Rochford would hold his opponent to six points while putting up 18.
Grizzly grapplers would earn 26 team points and hold the Pack to 19, earning yet another conference victory in the 2019-20 season. 133-pounder
Jonathan Andreatta made a huge jump in the rankings, sitting comfortably at No. 5 within NCAA Division II.
Noah Hermosillo goes into Week 4 of conference action at No. 4 within the 141-pound weight class. Adams State goes into the following weeks of competition at No. 13 throughout NCAA Division II, tied with Newberry College and Ashland University.
Grizzlies look to revisit the Midwest next Thursday, as they head to Nebraska to go head to head with Chadron State College for more Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action.
