COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— The Adams State University men's and women's cross country teams both finished fourth place at the 2020 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Cross Country Championships here at Monument Valley Park on Saturday.
The men finished the 12-team standings with 95 points while the women finished fourth in the 12-team field with 92 points. On the men's side, the Colorado School of Mines placed three runners in the top four and all five scorers in the top eight to earn the team title with 22 points. On the women's side, Western Colorado won the team title with 44 points by placing three runners in the top seven.
The Grizzlies were led by junior
Isaiah Rodarte, who finished the 8,000-meter, three-loop course in 24:22.1, just under four seconds behind overall winner, Oredigger junior Dylan Ko, who finished in 24:18.4.
Junior
Davonte Jett-Reynolds was the second Grizzly across the finish line in 14th place as he finished in 25:14.8 to join Rodarte with RMAC All-Conference First Team Honors.
Junior
Miguel Coca finished in 24th place with a time of 25:39.1 and joined freshman
Yonas Haile as All-Conference Second Team Honors as he finished in 28th place with a time of 25:47.7.
Freshman
David Cardenas finished in 31st place to round out the scorers for the Grizzlies by crossing the in 25:59.5.
Freshman Mikah Paiz finished in 34th place in 26:04.5, senior
Paddy Robb finished in 36th place in 26:08.7 and freshman
Elijah De La Cerda rounded out the Grizzlies in 54th place with a time of 36:43.4
On the women's side, sophomore
Brianna Robles led the way with a third place finish as she finished the 6,000-meter three-loop course in 21:20.1. Sophomore
Nicole Lawrence joined Robles with All-Conference First Team honors with a time of 22:05.9. She crossed the line in tenth place.
Freshman
Morgan Hykes finished in 24th place with a time of 22:53.5 while freshman
Reina Paredes and senior
Sarah Wills earned All-Conference Second Team honors by finishing in 27th and 28th with times of 22:58.7 and 23:00.7, respectively.
The Grizzlies were rounded out by freshman
Emily Schoellkopf in 38th place with a time of 23:16.0, sophomore
Amanda Foster finished in 50th place with a time of 23:51.3, sophomore
Paige Morales finished in 52nd place with a time of 23:55.6 and freshman Amalia Dorian finished in 71st place with a time of 24:31.6.
By finishing in the top six teams, the Grizzlies earned an invite to the D2 National Invitational on Nov. 14, hosted by Lubbock Christian University. The Invitational is a a replacement for the national championships for teams from the seven Division II conferences, which are running this fall.
