ALAMOSA, Colo. – Adams State Women's Basketball is set to travel to Utah to take on Dixie State and Westminster College. The Grizzlies are looking for redemption in their second matchup against both teams.
The Grizzlies are coming off a tough couple of bouts in Denver and are looking to break their four-game losing streak in Utah this weekend. The Grizzlies took on the Lady Buffs and the Griffins two weeks ago in Alamosa, where they fell 63-47 to Westminster College and 65-39 to Dixie State.
Leading the Grizzlies charge into the weekend are leading scorers,
Zakiya Beckles and
Laura Gutierrez. Beckes is leading the Grizzlies with 238 points and Gutierrez with 185.
Ally McKenzie is on top with a .439 field goal percentage for Adams State. Leading the Grizzlies on the boards is
Paiton Demps, averaging 4.4 rebounds per game, followed by
Marshell Hollins averaging 3.6 boards.
Scouting the Buffs
Ranked 8
th among RMAC competitors, Dixie State is moving into weekend 14-9 overall and 9-8 in RMAC. The Buffs are looking to break their two-game losing streak, falling to Western Colorado and Colorado Mesa. Dixie State is looking to come out strong after a close matchup against the Mavericks, falling 59-54.
In the Grizzlies and Buffs last matchup, Dixie State opened the first half outscoring the Grizzlies 45-16. Adams State bounced back in the second half scoring 23 to Dixie State's 20. The Grizzlies are looking to come out strong in St. George on Friday, Feb. 14 at 5:30 p.m.
Watching Westminster
As a top competitor in the RMAC, the Griffins are ranked 4
th with a 12-5 RMAC record, and 17-6 overall. Westminster College is coming into the weekend on a three-game losing streak, with falls to Fort Lewis, Colorado Mesa, and Western Colorado. The Griffins will first take on Fort Lewis Friday, Feb. 14.
In the last matchup between the Grizzlies and Griffins, Westminster opened the first half outscoring Adams State 36-14. The Grizzlies again bounced back in the second half outscoring the Griffins 33-27. Adams State will take on Westminster College in Salt Lake City Saturday, Feb. 15 at 5:30 p.m.

The Grizzlies will be back in Alamosa for their final homestand of the season. The Grizzlies will take on Western Colorado and Colorado Mesa the weekend of February 21 and 22. Adams State will stay at home for their final week of the regular season, February 28 to take on Fort Lewis.
