Grizzlies Conclude Preseason Falling to Thunderwolves

PUEBLO, Colo. – Adams State Baseball closes out preseason against CSU-Pueblo. The Grizzlies fell in game two of their two-game series, 14-2.
 
The Grizzlies had a good start to the game, getting on the board in the first inning With two outs, Cedrick Reynaud was walked. After a wild pitch and an RBI double by Kolton Bleggi, Reynaud scored the Grizzlies first run. Noah Befus followed up with a single to left to score Bleggi. Adams State took an early 2-0 lead.
 
CSU-Pueblo did not respond until the bottom of the second. The Thunderwolves started the inning with a leadoff walk, followed by a double to left field. CSU-Pueblo earned their first run from an RBI ground to the shortstop. Still leading 2-1 in the top of the third, the Grizzlies earned three hits, but could not find their way home.
 
The Thunderwolves took the lead in the bottom of the third from a two-run homerun to right field. Leading 3-2, CSU-Pueblo added one more run in the bottom of the fourth, and two more in the bottom of the fifth from a homerun. Leading the Grizzlies 6-4, the Thunderwolves defense kept the Grizzly offense to three batters per inning for four straight innings. CSU-Pueblo added five runs in the bottom of the seventh. The Thunderwolves scored from wild pitches, a SAC fly, and a two-run homerun to center field.
 
Trailing 11-2, Reynaud ended the Grizzly hitting drought with a double to right field. The Thunderwolves tacked on three runs on four hit in the bottom of the eighth to extend their lead 14-2 over the Grizzlies. Adams State found one hit in the top of the ninth, but the Thunderwolf defense shut down Adams State. The Thunderwolves maintained their 14-2 lead to close the game.
 
Befus led the Grizzlies going 3-4 on the day, with an RBI in the first inning. Reynaud was also a solifdhitter for the Adams State, going 2-3. Dalton Carelo started on the bump for the Grizzlies, completing 4.0 innings, while facing 19 batters with 4 strikeouts. Cutter Smith also pitched for Adams State, completing 2.0 innings facing 9 batters, along with Orlando Romero completing 0.1 innings and Chance Stand completing 1.2.
 
The Grizzlies will jump into RMAC play next weekend in St. George, Utah. Adams State will take on Dixie State in a four-game series Mach 6-8.
