GRAND JUNCTION – The Adams State University Grizzly wrestling team fell to the Colorado Mesa University Mavericks, 32-13 on Saturday to open Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action.
The Grizzlies won three of the first four matches before allowing the Mavericks to close out the dual with six straight losses including three straight falls to end the dual.
Alamosa's Isaiah DeLaCerda won the first match of the dual with an 8-4 decision over Cain Apple before the reigning RMAC Wrestler of the Week,
Jonathan Andreatta earned his third straight first period fall as he defeated Colin Metzgar in 2:59.
Noah Hermosillo won the Grizzlies only other match as he earned an 11-1 major decision for four team points.
The four returning national qualifiers in CMU's lineup then all posted convincing victories from 165-197 pounds while getting other key wins at 157 and 285.
The Grizzlies will now turn their attention to several duals at the University of Nebraska-Kearney. A complete schedule of the weekend will be announced early next week.
