ALAMOSA, Colo. – The Adams State Grizzlies took on the Colorado Christian Cougars on Sunday afternoon. This is the third time the Grizzlies took on Colorado Christian this season, but it is the first time that the game is considered a conference game.
The first team to find the back of the net was the Cougars. However, they didn't score until the second half. In fact, all goals by both teams only scored in the second half. The Cougars fist goal was in the 58th minute by the Cougar's Liam Lakey with the assist from Gabe Roloff.
This goal went unanswered for a while until the Grizzlies'
Benji Rogers scored in the 71st minute. This is Rogers' second game back from an injury. The score was 1-1 only for a short time as the Cougars were quick to respond. In the 78th minute, Caiden Dixon scored for the Cougars with an assist by Lucca Casci.
The Grizzlies fought hard the whole game but unfortunately, they would not find a way to score. The final score was 2-1, as the Cougars remain undefeated.
"Disappointing result today as it was a game either team could've come away with. We have struggled with fitness and consistency and have had to rotate too many players into matches this year," Head Coach
Brett Bentley said. "Unfortunately, those things continue to be our downfall in close games. We will get back to work tomorrow and work to clean things up to be better next time out."
Up next, the Grizzlies travel to Utah to play Westminster College on October 8th and then play Colorado Mesa University on October 10th.
