VICTORIA, Kan.— With championship season approaching the stakes are high for the Adams State men and women's cross country teams. The Grizzlies gave their full efforts at the FHSU Tiger Open this Saturday morning. Where the women's team finished third overall with 113 points and the men's team finished in first with a score of 84 points.
The Grizzlies had some top endeavors in the Women's Gold 5k division as
Reina Paredes was the only Grizzly to finish in the top ten as she ran a final time 18:16.73. Finishing in the top 25 was
Amalia Dorion in 18th (18:30.46),
Emily Schoellkopf in 24th (18:36.94), and setting a new personal best in 25th place was
Jaden Johnson (18:37.13).
In the Men's Gold 8k race with great undertake
Mitchell Dervin was the first Grizzly to cross the line in 9th place with a time of 24:27.12, followed by
Andrew O'Keefe in 12th with a time of 24:32.27. Finishing in the top 30 was Clement Digou with a time of 25:05.35 and
David Cardenas 25:11.50. Other Grizzlies that added to the team scoring was
Elias Perez with a time of 25:17.11 and
Aron Orar 25.22.87.
The next time Adams State will lace up their spikes will be at the RMAC Cross Country Championship on October 23rd as they travel to Golden, Colorado.
