MBB | Grizzlies to host NMHU and UCCS

ALAMOSA, Colo. — The Adams State University Men's basketball team will open up their first season conference games at home against New Mexico Highlands University and the University of Colorado Springs.
 
Adams State had a clean sweep last weekend on the road playing in Puerto Rico. The first team they played was the University of Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras. The Grizzlies had two players scoring in double figures, Ryan O'Brien with 18 points and Malik Moore with 12 points. Malik Moore was just one rebound away from having a double-double. It was a very close game from start to finish, but the Grizzles were able to come out with a victory with a final score of 67 to 63.
 
The Grizzles then had a quick turn around and played Universidad Del Sagrado Corazon. From tip off the grizzlies were able to dominate Corazon ending in a final score of 81-68. They had four Grizzlies scoring in double figures, leading in scoring we had Kalin Crane with 21 points, Nykolas Lange with 20 points, Hayden Meakes with 12 points, and Jordan Notch with 10 points.
 
Up first, the Grizzlies will play at home in Plachy hall, where they will meet to play New Mexico Highlands on Friday, December 3rd at 7:30 p.m. They will remain in Plachy Hall for a game on Saturday, December 4th at 7:30 p.m. to take on the University of Colorado Springs.
 
New Mexico Highlands University is finishing up their pre-season games with an overall record of 5-1. Unfortunately, the Cowboys were not able to participate in the 2020-21 season due to COVID reason but were able to return all players from last year and are now a strong veteran team. Last game they played was on November 27 against Northern New Mexico College coming out with a victory 91-84. Leading the cowboys we had Ricardo Zambrano with 19 points, and Tyrique Weaver having a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
 
The next team the Grizzles will match up this weekend will be against The University of Colorado Springs Saturday, December 4th at 7:30 p.m.
 
The University of Colorado Springs finished up their pre-season games with a record of 5-1. Last time these two teams met up was February 8, 2021 at Adams State University the Grizzlies taking the win with a final score of 92-80. The Mountain Lions last game was against Texas A&M International having two players scoring in high figures, Alijah Comithier with 25 points and Jon'il Fugett with 20 points. Unfortunately the mountain lions fell short with a final score of 72-77.
 
The Grizzlies will have a quick turnaround playing on the road against Colorado State University Pueblo, Tuesday, December 7th at 7:30 p.m.
