WBB | Grizzlies battle but fall to ThunderWolves

PUEBLO, Colo.—Despite stellar play for the first three quarters of Tuesday night's Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) game inside Massari Arena. The Grizzlies were outscored 19-4 in the final 9:03 and ultimately fell 72-59.

Adams State found themselves down early by freshman Angelline Nageak gave the Grizzlies hope as she hit two straight treys for six points. Adams State capitalized and took a 21-18 lead into the first quarter break.

The second quarter saw CSU Pueblo outscored Adams State 16-13 to take a 34-34 score in the break. The second quarter senior Stephanie Ruiz hit two three pointers for six points.

The ThunderWolves then outscored Adams State 19-18 in the third quarter to take a 52-51 lead into the final frame. Adams State could not keep up with CSU Pueblo as they were outscored in the final quarter.

Nageak led the way for the Grizzlies as she hit 5-of-10 from the field and 3-of-5 from the arch for 14 points. Ruiz finished the game with 11 points while Laura Gutierrez finished with nine points.

Adams State, now 3-5 overall and 1-3 in the RMAC, will be back in action on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. when they travel to Rapid City, South Dakota to take on the Hardrockers.
