SB | Grizzlies fall in two games Sunday

PUEBLO, Colo.—The Grizzlies closed out the opening weekend with a pair of games on Sunday at Rawlings Field in Pueblo. The Grizzlies fell to Bethany College 11-3 in their final tune-up exhibition game before falling against host ThunderWolves of CSU Pueblo.

CSU Pueblo 6, Adams State 2
The ThunderWolves jumped out to a 4-0 lead after scoring two runs in the bottom of the first and second and eventually cracked through the scoring column in the top of the fourth as Angeline Mitchell doubled to right center allowing Kyrah Archibald to score.

Unfortunately for the Grizzlies, CSU Pueblo used a sacrifice bunt and an error to score two runs in the bottom of the fifth and took a 6-1 lead.

The Grizzlies scratched a final run across in the seventh inning as Breck Smith singled to right field to push Amaya Turner across.

Adams State outhit the ThunderWolves 10-7 including two doubles and had five walks, but three costly errors doomed them.

Bethany College 11, Adams State 3 (exhibition)
After scoring a single run in the bottom of the first on a ground ball by Jade Garbiso to push Amaya Turner across, Adams State allowed two runs in the top of the third, four in the fifth, and two in the top of the sixth inning to trail 9-1.

Adams State fought off a run-rule loss as they scored two in the bottom of the sixth thanks to a triple by Tayler Duncan before Bailey Reid doubled her in.

The Grizzlies will open up the conference portion of their season with a four-game series, two doubleheaders, at Regis next weekend.
