MLAX | Grizzlies battle fall to Wolverines in season-opener

ALAMOSA, Colo.—Despite a flurry of action in the second quarter to pull Adams State University within one goal, the Utah Valley University Wolverines scored seven straight points in the third and fourth quarters to defeat the Grizzlies, 14-7, in the Grizzlies season-opener on Friday afternoon here at the ASU Lacrosse Field.

The Wolverines jumped out to a blazing 3-0 lead before Adams State saw Tyler Hubbard score the first goal for the Grizzlies of the new campaign. Utah Valley then scored three more goals to take a 6-1 advantage into the second frame.

The Grizzlies found the back of the net four times as Dawson Balabanoff, Jacob Austin, Chase Rodine and Kyle Butler each scored goals to cut the lead down to 7-5 at the break.

Adams State then cut the lead to one thanks to Kyle Coking's unassisted tally.

The Grizzlies took 34 shots in the game, only 11 however, were on goal.

Hubbard was the leading point getter for the Grizzlies as he had two goals and assist as his two shots on goal were goals.

Brendan Williams faced 26 shots on the day making 12 saves.

Adams State will return to action on Mar. 6 when they play at Colorado College at 1 p.m.
