PLAINVIEW, Texas - The Grizzlies played another doubleheader today in Plainview, Texas. The Grizzlies dropped both games.

Wayland Baptist 10, Adams State 8
The Pioneers jumped out to an early lead with a run in the bottom of the first inning. The Grizzlies responded with a leadoff walk from Kolten Bleggi and a double from Matthew Bathauer. The Pioneers retaliated with a run in the bottom of the third. The Grizzlies got the bats hot in the fourth inning scoring five runs and another one in the top of the fifth. After the Pioneers put up three runs in the bottom of the fifth and five more in the bottom of the sixth.

The Grizzlies offense started off the game hot scoring four runs in the top of the first inning which included a Bathauer three-run homerun.
Nathan Hield started off the second inning with a solo home run increasing the lead to 5-0.
The Pioneers then responded with a run in the bottom of the inning and two more in the third and a solo homerun in fourth. The Pioneers then added three more runs in bottom of the fifth which included a two-run homerun.
With the Grizzlies down by four to start the seventh inning, Bathauer hit a three-run homerun. It was not enough as the Pioneers held on to win.

The Grizzlies will start their conference play with a four-game home-opening series against the Colorado Mesa Mavericks. The Grizzlies will play a nine-inning game on Friday, a seven-inning doubleheader on Saturday, and a nine-inning game on Sunday.
