DENVER—The Adams State University softball team dropped both games in Sunday's doubleheader to the Regis Rangers in Denver.
Game 1: Regis 19, Adams State 10 – 5 innings
A slugfest in the opening game looked like Adams State was going to be able to stagger the Regis Rangers however, a third inning that was explosive by both teams, doomed the Grizzlies as they fell in the opening game 19-10.
Adams State looked to take control of the game early as they took a 1-0 lead in the first after

The Rangers, however, had other plans as they scored four runs in the bottom of the first and six in the bottom of the second to take a 10-1 lead.
The Grizzlies then found the bat rack as they sent 16 batters to the plate in the third and scored nine runs on six hits and capitalized on one error and four walks to tie the game at ten. In the inning
Tyler Hays hit a solo dinger to center field while Vargas hit a two-run shot to left center.
The slugfest continued in the bottom of the third inning as the Rangers scored nine runs of their own in the bottom of the inning to make the score 19-10.
Adams State then loaded the bases in the top of the fourth inning with just one out but a series of contested called behind stranded the jammed bags.
Adams State had 11 hits in the game and five walks as nine batters were stranded on the base paths.
Game 2: Regis 15, Adams State 0 – 5 innings
Regis jumped out ton impressive 11-0 lead including ten runs in the first inning thanks in part to four Grizzly errors.
They scored one in the second, three in the third and one in the fourth.

Adams State will return home and open up the friendly confines of the ASU Softball Field when they host Fort Lewis on Saturday and Sunday with doubleheaders starting at 12 p.m. and 11 a.m., respectively.
