ALAMOSA, Colo.—The Adams State Men's Basketball team returned to action in a home game against the University of Colorado Springs after a long streak of postponed games due to COVID-19 protocols. The Grizzlies had a strong defense until the end but came out short 92-80.
Adams State opened the game with Fredrick Jackson scoring for the Grizzlies with an assist from
Destan Williams. The Mountain Lions and the Grizzlies battled it out intensively. Williams continued to be a stellar team player as he picked up the dribble and passed the ball to
Alassane Sene and he went for a layup, but the Mountain Lions still remained in the lead.
Trace Dimeff went for a long 3-point shot giving the Grizzlies the opportunity to take the lead with the game consistently changed lead throughout the first half, but the Grizzlies still trailed by eight points at the conclusion of the half.
The Grizzlies got the momentum going in the second half with
Kaelin Crane hitting a nice jumper. The Mountain Lions extended their lead to ten points, but the Grizzlies continued to fight back with jump shots made by Crane.
Dimeff hustled on defense granting the Grizzlies opportunities to score, cutting into Mountain Lions lead, only trailing by three-points with 7:34 on the clock.
Williams then took over in scoring for the Grizzlies, as Fredrick Jackson made his way back in the game after missing a majority of the game and got the ball to his teammates.
The Mountain Lions continued to pull away and outscored the Grizzlies 92-80.
The Grizzlies had four players score in the double digits,
Destan Williams,
Kaelin Crane,
Trace Dimeff, and
Malik Moore. Williams was just two assists away from a double-double as he finished with eight.
Adams State will be back in action on Friday Feb.12 as they travel Salt Lake City, Utah where the tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in a match against Westminster College.
