ST. LOUIS, Mo.— Adams State University wrestlers
Isaiah De La Cerda and
Noah Hermosillo capped of the 2020-21 season Saturday as they earned All-America honors by finishing in seventh and sixth, respectively, at the NCAA Division II Championships held at America's Center in St. Louis, Missouri.
After falling on Friday, De La Cerda came out and defeated Matt Siszka of Pitt-Johnstown with a 6-5 decision in the second round of the consolations. In the third round Christian Wellman of Ashland earned a 5-4 decision over De La Cerda.
De La Cerda finished in seventh as he won by decision over Trenton McManus of Minnesota State with a 6-2 decision.
For Hermosillo, Garrett Aldrich of St. Cloud State knocked Hermosillo out of the championship side of the bracket with a 7-4 decision.
In the consolation semifinals, Sam Turner of Nebraska-Kearney avenged his reginal title bout loss as je earned a narrow one-point victory over Hermosillo on an overtime tie breaker.
In the fifth-place match, Carson Speelman, who was defeated by Hermosillo in the quarterfinals, ame way with a 9-6 decision.
