Grand Junction, Colo.- The Grizzlies took a trip to Grand Junction, Colorado to face the No. 2- ranked Colorado Mesa Mavericks for a doubleheader on Saturday. The Grizzlies dropped both games by run rule wins, 12-4 and 14-6.
Colorado Mesa 12, Adams State 4 (5 inn.)
The Grizzlies opened the game scoring two runs with a Jade Garisbo double and a
Belinda Vargas single. The Mavericks responded with two, two run homeruns scoring four in the bottom of the first. The Mavericks added another run in the bottom of the third inning.
Belinda Vargas and
Breck Smith both hit home run in the top of the fourth inning making it 5 to 4. The Mavericks answered by scoring seven unanswered runs.
Colorado Mesa 14, Adams State 6 (6 inn.)
The Grizzlies opened the second game by scoring a run in the top of the first inning on a throwing error. The Mavericks answered by scoring four runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Grizzlies scored five unanswered runs which included a homerun by
Analiese Rodriguez, a two-run double by
Tyler Hays, two singles. The Mavericks added ten runs to win the game in the six innings.
