SB | Grizzlies split with UCCS in Saturday twinbill

ALAMOSA, Colo.-The Adams State University Softball team split a twin bill with the UCCS Mountain Lions on Saturday. The Grizzlies won the first game 6-2 before falling in the second game 4-2.

Game 1: Adams State 6, UCCS 2
The first game saw the Mountain Lions open the scoring as the fifth pitch of the game exited center field for a lead off home run. They then added a run in the bottom of the inning for a 2-0 lead.

Adams State then held the Mountain Lions away from home before they scored their six runs unanswered. Tyler Hays tripled to right field in the fourth before Jade Garbiso tripled to left center. Analiese Rodriguez singled through the left side before Sydney Muniz closed out the inning with the Grizzlies' third triple. 

The Grizzlies played error-free baseball in the opening game as they mustered up nine hits and one walk. Garbiso was the winning pitcher as she improved to 2-3 on the season. She earned the win with the complete game allowing two runs on five hits and one walk while striking out six of the 28 batters she faced.

Game 2:
In the second game, neither team cracked through until the fourth inning in which the Mountain Lions put up three runs in the top half. The Grizzlies strung together a hit and a stolen base to cut into the lead in the bottom of the fourth, 3-1.

A scoreless fifth inning preceded both teams matching runs in the sixth inning.

Up Next
The Grizzlies will close out the weekend series with the Mountain Lions on Friday with a doubleheader starting at 11:00 a.m.
