ALAMOSA, Colo.— The Adams State University softball team was unable to string together enough hits on Sunday as they were swept by the UCCS Mountain Lions in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference doubleheader on Sunday afternoon.
Game 1: UCCS 7, Adams State 0
The Mountain Lions opened the game by scratching two doubles together in the top of the second inning. Adams State attempted to tie the game with a two-out triple that bounced off the top of the outfield wall, however, a key strikeout kept the zero in the score column.
Both teams remained scoreless until the top of the sixth inning where the Mountain Lions strung six straight hits, four singles, a double and a triple, together and scored four runs.
Jasmine Garbiso was tabbed with the loss despite tossing 5.1 innings of work as she allowed five runs on nine hits and three walks.
Game 2: UCCS 7, Adams State 2
The second game saw UCCS score two runs in the second inning and two in the fourth inning.
Adams State was able to crawl close as they scored a single run in the bottom of the first and capitalized on an errant throw in the bottom of the sixth to make the score 4-2.
The Mountain Lions scored three more run in the top of the seventh.
Jade Garbiso, who tossed a stellar game, was tabbed with the loss.

Adams State will have a shorter week on tap as they are set to play two doubleheaders at the Colorado School of Mines on Friday and Saturday.
