ALAMOSA, Colo.— The Grizzlies played a doubleheader today against Colorado Christian University Cougars in Alamosa, Colorado. The Grizzlies dropped two one-run games to the Cougars, 4-3 and 10-9.
Game 1: CCU 4, Adams 3
In the first game of the doubleheader, the Grizzlies and Cougars were locked into a pitchers' duel.
Jamison Fuentes threw five and two thirds of an inning giving up no runs on six hits while striking out nine. The Cougars put up four runs in the top of the sixth inning. The Grizzlies came back in the bottom of the seventh inning with a pinch-hit home run by
Colton Goldfarb and another solo home run by
Jace Wytulka. The Grizzlies added another run and had the tying run and winning run on base just falling short of the win.
Game 2: CCU 10, Adams 9
The Cougars started the off the second game by scoring two runs in the top of the first inning. The Grizzlies responded in the bottom of the first by putting up six runs. Those runs included a solo home run by Kolten Bleggi and Cedric Reynaud, a run scoring single by
Colton Goldfarb, a double by
Chase Dixon, and a triple by
Chase Dixon.
The Grizzlies added another run in the bottom of the second inning.
The Cougars tied up the game in the top of the fourth inning. The Cougars added another run in the top of the sixth inning to take an 8-7 lead as tensions between both teams heated up.
After battling and battling tensions after an ejection, Reynaud drew a walk and
Mike Bathauer wasted no time as he took the first pitch he saw and drove it to left field for a two-run home run.
The Cougars added 2 runs in the top of the seventh. The Grizzlies had the tying run and winning run on base before falling short again
