ALAMOSA, Colo. — The Adams State University softball team started a streak on Saturday as they swept a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) doubleheader over the Chadron State Eagles. The Grizzlies won both games in five innings, with the scores of 13-4 and 10-2. The second came came in walkoff fashion.
Game 1: Adams State 13, Chadron State 4 (5 inn.)
Almost as quickly as a 1-2-3 inning could have changed the momentum, Adams State redshirt senior
Tyler Hays nailed a solo shot to center field to open the scoring for the Grizzlies.
The Eagles claimed their first and only lead of the game on a sacrifice fly.
Adams State scored seven in the second inning including a bases clearing, three base, three run error.
They added five-run third inning that included a bases loaded walk, and two singles.
Jade Garbiso got the win for the Grizzlies as she allowed just three earned runs on five hits and two walks while obtaining two strikeouts.
Game 2: Adams State 10, Chadron State 2 (5 inn.)
Like the first game, Adams State used a big run inning to secure the run rule win.
The Grizzlies opened the scoring with a single run in the first inning before scoring six in the bottom of the second. In the second, Adams State had two sacrifice flies two singles and a triple.
Adams State then traded runs in the third inning before a sac fly in the fourth had the Grizzlies up by eight. The Grizzlies were unable to keep the Eagles at bay as they forced the Grizzlies to bat in the bottom of the fifth. Adams State would load the bases before
Tyler Hays earned the walk off single.
Taylor Sandoval won her second game of the season as she pitched 4.2 innings surrendering just one earned run on seven hits.
