ALAMOSA, Colo. – The Adams State University softball team continued this weekend with one more doubleheader against the Chadron State Eagles. Even though the weather was perfect, the Grizzlies didn't end the weekend with a perfect record. The Grizzlies won the first game 6-5, but lost the second one, 3-7.
Game 1: Adams State 5, Chadron State 4
The Grizzlies came to a quick 2-0 lead from red shirt senior Tyler Hayes. She homered to left field, which led to her and her teammate,
Samantha McDonald to score.
Chadron returned with an RBI triple to right center. Also, in the second inning,
Tayler Duncan hit a two-run homer, making the score 4-1.
The Grizzlies went scoreless until the 5
th inning, when
Sydney Muniz hit a homerun, allowing
Jade Garbiso to also score.
Jasmine Garbiso got the win for the Grizzlies making her record 5-5 on the season. Adams State also ended the game error free.
Game 2: Adams State 3, Chadron State 7
Unlike the first game, Chadron state came out and scored one in the first inning. Adams State remained scoreless until the third inning, when Tyler Hayes hit an RBI single, allowing
Samantha McDonald to score. The Grizzlies scored two more runs in the third inning from
Jade Garbiso hitting a two-run homer. This third inning run tied the game at three.
Unfortunately, the Grizzlies were unable to score again the remainder of the game. Chadron scored four more runs in the fourth inning, making the score 7-3. The score remained like this throughout the rest of the game.
Chadron State had zero errors in their second day of the game and only allowed three runs off of six hits. Adams State ended with three errors and allowed seven runs off of fourteen hits.
Jade Garbiso got the loss, making her record 4-6.
